For Homeowners: How to Put Home Information at Classifieds

March 11, 2010 By: Vanessa Cruz Category: Internet Marketing

With the growing pace of communication and information spreading, buying and selling home have also worked effectively with the help of online media. Among the many media for home listing such as real estate broker sites, classified sites, directories, and others, classifieds have appeared to be one of the most popular media. It offers flexibility, inexpensive advertising, and yet effective because people have been accustomed to finding homes at offline classifieds since long time ago. Now the constraint with
classifieds is the limited ads space.

Efficiency is really challenged here since you want the ads to be effective and representative. Home has many features and attributes to be delivered to prospective buyers, yet the space is few. You have to make sure the best ones are eye catching and readable by homebuyers though. There are some tips to put home information at classifieds. We know that most classifieds only allow around 250-300 characters. That means the words are lesser than that. To start the word filtering, divide your ads into three parts: headline, content, and closing.

The headline should tell a few interesting stuff about the home. Make buyers feel interested in reading further. Home is not fast moving consumer good and everyone seems to have his/her own imagination towards a perfect home. A catchy headline should grab a part of the excitement. The content will do the rest. Of course the headline can not be too exposing because you only have tiny characters. Just say the standard words and then add personalization to make it sounds engaging.

The content should say all about the home features. Have the standard information listed. Location, number of bedrooms, and size should usually be stated. Home price is not always a must because the ad space is limited and you want to expose the best features first. If your home is closed to a department store, business center, school, or else, that will be good and appealing to specific market segment. State the information. You know, small starting-up family may love to know if a home is close to school, city park, or office. A household with two incomes may need to find home that is close to their office. It is just helpful if they know it in advance. Also, tell the most attractive part of your home, can be the kitchen, garden, architecture, or any. This will make them curious and give a bit clue about how lovely the home is.

For the closing, write what will encourage buyers to contact and find further information. They can be psychologically or financially encouraging. People need stimulation to act further. Just make sure you utilize all the available features but also be frank about the home condition. Filtering out those who are not interested in your home will save time in the future. Let them see the features from a virtual tour, if possible. And they will decide later. Since the word capacity is small, you need to write all in efficiently. Make a list first, and then get rid of those that are not so critical.

Can Classified Ads Improve Your Business Performance?

Classified ads are a very convenient way of advertising in newspapers and also online. There usually is a classified ads section in your local newspaper. Besides, you have the option of advertising on a web-based service such as Craigslist or Kijiji, which have a local site specific to your area. Classifieds are simple advertisements, usually not giving more information than the contact number or email of the advertiser and the product to be sold or rented. Classifieds are especially useful for reaching out to the local population. They are pretty cheap too, and there is always a good chance that people will be looking for something in the range of whatever you are advertising.

Classified advertising is significantly different from mainstream advertising in many ways. Firstly, general individuals can buy classified advertising space in a newspaper. Usually newspapers have a dedicated space, usually a few pages for classified ads. Also these advertisements are classified, i.e. they are grouped into sections alphabetically in the classifieds section of the newspaper. Typically the sections include ‘for sale’ and ‘for rent’ categories. Classifieds are often thoroughly searched for apartment sale and rent, besides other rent and sale, localized businesses and services, etc. A major difference between mainstream advertising and classified advertising is that the target population also searches for the advertisements in classifieds, while in mainstream advertising the advertisers have to try and catch the population’s attention through multiple media and graphics and audio etc. Classifieds usually don’t include graphics.

While buying newspaper space for a classified ad, you should consider the newspapers’ circulation and popularity. A widely circulated newspaper will cost more in terms of advertising space but is usually worth it, since it reaches a larger audience. If you can afford to buy more space you can give a better description of your product or service in your classified. Classifieds usually follow a line-based pricing model so you should be careful while deciding how to go about it.

Classified ads are also available in “pennysavers”. Pennysavers are alternative newspapers circulated locally for free usually weekly, or monthly in areas with lower populations. They are quite common and your locality is sure to have at least one in regular circulation. These can be an option, other than the regular classified space, since people will probably perceive ads in these differently.

Through the advent of the internet, classified ads have become more convenient online. The popularity of online classifieds is growing while that of newspaper-based classifieds is dropping. You can publish classified ads via websites such as Craigslist, Kijiji, or Gumtree, which are the most popular classified websites. Gumtree mostly focuses on housing ads. Craigslist is the most popular such website in the US and has around 700 websites for different localities all over the world. If your area has a Craigslist site catering to it, it is probably a good option to advertise here due to its popularity.

Also you can search for options free advertising when classified ads are concerned, especially if
you think you don’t need to spend money to sell your stuff.

A Beginner’s Guide to Free Ads

If you are looking to sell something you don’t need or if you have to market your services, free ads is probably something you’ve considered. Free advertisements are offered nowadays by many websites, which may be local or global ones like Craigslist. Global sites such as Craigslist actually have a lot of portals for different localities or areas. Depending on the exposure you require, you can decide where to post your free advertisement.

Online free ads are an increasingly popular form of classified advertising nowadays, and are pushing newspaper-based classifieds behind. Due to ease of access to the Internet, they are becoming the preferred method of advertising. Posting a free ad online is very easy compared to buying classified ad space in a newspaper. Also, the space available is more. An online ad may also reach more people than a classified in a newspaper. Free ads are a convenient method of advertising.

Posting free ads is very easy, since all you need is an email ID, a user-name and password for the site concerned. Once you login, you just have to enter a few fields related to your ad and the post itself. The post usually has a large enough word limit to let you give a decent description of your item or service. When your ad gets posted under the required section and in the specified area or locality, the people searching for the kind of item you are selling in your area will find the post. You are usually notified on your email when someone replies to your post. It is good practice to include your contact number in the post, like in the classifieds section of a newspaper, so that prospective customers can contact you immediately.

Posting free ads is a good advertising practice especially for local sales of items such as furniture and automobiles, and for services such as classes and tuition. Personal ads are also allowed; especially adult services which cannot be advertised in regular newspapers can be advertised here. Social networking sites are a better option to find friends, though.

If you are searching among free ads, you should be careful of advertisements posted out of malicious intent. Some may be spam, and some link you to web pages which are pornographic in nature or might force your browser to download malware or viruses onto your PC. The internet being difficult to regulate, this is a problem faced by all internet-based media and you should try to be safe from it. Other than these minor hassles, searching for stuff in free ads is very easy. All you have to do is specify a location and then look in the category you are looking for. Communication between buyer and seller is very easy once the product or service is spotted.

With a good advertisement on your local website or the local portal of a global website, you can make a deal pretty quickly. The effectiveness of this system is very good and as long as you follow the basic rules of advertising, you’ll have a hassle-free experience.
